There were many key players and key factors involved in the Lincoln County War.
While powerful men such as Dolan, Murphy, and Catron dominated the economic and political hierarchy of Lincoln, others like John "Green" Wilson, Taylor Ealy, and Samuel Corbet navigated their life and families amongst the violence that swept over Lincoln.
Below, I have attached two very key documents that provide some in-depth background on Samuel Robert Corbet- the former Tunstall clerk who, later in 1881, would personally bring meals to his friend William H. Bonney, who was chained to the floor in the courthouse. While no solid evidence exists, historians who like the "outhouse theory" often mention Corbet as a possible assistant in Billy's bloody escape.
